Located in the heart of Marrickville, Angus Café is a hidden gem that artfully blends a relaxed atmosphere with meticulously crafted food. Situated at 69 Meeks Rd, this café has quickly gained a reputation among locals and visitors alike for its outstanding sandwiches and superb coffee, all enveloped in a chill, warehouse-style vibe that resonates with the creative spirit of the inner west.

As you step inside Angus, you’re greeted by the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the comforting sounds of a bustling café. The open space, adorned with reclaimed materials and a touch of local flair, makes it the perfect spot for a casual breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon coffee break. Whether you’re catching up with friends or simply taking a moment for yourself, Angus provides an inviting atmosphere that feels both warm and energizing.

The menu features a delightful array of offerings, but the standout contenders are undeniably the sandwiches. The Crumbed Fish Sandwich has garnered rave reviews, with its perfectly crispy exterior that gives way to tender, juicy fish, complemented by a tangy tartare sauce and garnished with pickles. It's no wonder customers have described it as a "much superior version" of the standard fare. For those in the mood for something hearty, the Reuben Sandwich is equally impressive, boasting layers of flavor and richness that make each bite a delightful adventure.

While the sandwiches take center stage, don’t overlook the café's selection of pastries and sweets, like the indulgent Basque Cheesecake and the rich Raspberry Brownie. Each dessert is a sweet finish that invites you to linger just a bit longer.

On the drink side, Angus takes pride in its diverse menu of hot beverages, including their robust Batch Brew and the comforting House Made Sticky Chai, which tantalizingly marries spices with a smooth finish that warms you from the inside. The premium coffee selection received high praise from customers who affirm it is "topnotch"—perfect for those who consider their coffee a vital part of their day.

Customer experiences speak volumes about Angus. A visitor named Claudia appreciated the prompt seating, even during busy periods, while Terence highlighted the friendly service and overall quality. Another patron, Pitt, noted that the 30-minute wait for a table was completely worth the indulgent meal that followed. These moments exemplify Angus’s commitment to not just food, but to a memorable dining experience.

So, whether you’re a culinary adventurer or simply in search of a cozy café for your morning ritual, Angus offers a delightful selection that’s bound to please. With every bite and sip, you’ll soon discover why this Marrickville establishment has become a cherished spot for sandwich lovers and coffee aficionados alike. Make your way to Angus, and let each dish tell you a story of flavor created with heart!

Visited on a Saturday afternoon to a crowd at the front however we were seated within 5 mins which was faster than I expected. Was recommended the fish burger so decided to try that. My expectations were high and it definitely matched that. The bread was perfect and soft, the fish was a decent size and the sauce was packed full of flavour. I did however find it quite pricey as it came to about $27 after the 10% weekly surcharge. 5/5 for service as the staff were really friendly.

Started with a fantastic coffee. I ordered the crumbed fish sandwich and my friend the turmeric chicken and we had half of each. The first bite, the bread chewy, the fish crispy and sauce tangy, it was really enjoyable to eat. The turmeric chicken unfortunately did not pack a punch flavour wise. Also tried the hash brown which was really crispy. Shame they don't sell soft drinks as we ended up drinking water when they could have made a few $$ more. Young friendly crew. Finding parking is a pain.

I came here on a Sunday with a group of five and waited around 30 minutes for a table—which felt long at the time, but honestly? Zero regrets. I had two sandwiches—the Reuben and the Crumbed Fish—plus an oat maple cold brew. Both were excellent, but that fish sando absolutely stole the show. Juicy, full of flavour, with the perfect tang from the pickles, a punchy tartare sauce, and the softest focaccia I’ve ever had. Bread is my weakness, and this one hit hard. Sandwiches are my jam, and I’ve made my way through most of Sydney’s spots. This? Easily the best fish sandwich I’ve had in the city. Everyone in our group walked away happy.

Angus feels like it’s set up in a repurposed garage or warehouse — and I absolutely love the vibe! The coffee is top-notch, exactly what you’d expect in the competitive inner west café scene. Their focus is on sandwiches, and we tried the crumbed fish and crumbed chicken fillet. Both were outstanding — freshly crumbed and fried (nothing frozen here), paired perfectly with pickles and veggies. The real star though is the bread. They use focaccia, and while at first glance the bread-to-filling ratio looks a little heavy, once you take a bite it just works. The bread is airy and light yet still has a great bite, balancing everything beautifully. A fantastic spot — simple food done with care and quality.

Amazing sandwiches - we had the fish sandwich and the Reuben and both did not disappoint. The has brown is also a bit different and worth a try. Service was friendly. Best to try and get here early to avoid the queues and crowds. We will definitely be back again! Highly recommended!

Another amazing cafe in marrickville! This one has a focus on big, sensational sandwiches. The service was really good and coffee and food came out promptly. Coffee was very good- no complaints. And priced reasonably and also served in large-ish cups with eating in. The fish sandwich was really good and done well. Tasted like a much superior version of the filet o fish, the sauce was rich and tasty and the fish was crunchy. Portion size was great.

Sandwiches are lovely. We had the Reuben and crumbed fish, devoured it in minutes because it so good and it's massive, coffee is good as well. Nice and friendly staff and atmosphere is chill. Thank you Angus Marrickville

We came here for breakfast and, funnily enough, didn’t try the sandwiches they’re known for (though they looked absolutely amazing!). Instead, we went with the breakfast menu — pancakes and oats porridge — and both were spot-on. The dishes were hearty, comforting, and really well put together. The coffee deserves a special mention too — rich, smooth, and exactly what you want to start the morning with. Even without trying their signature sandwiches, it’s clear this place takes pride in quality. We’ll definitely be back to give those sandwiches a go next time!
